 CITY OF PUEBLO
POLICE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN UNIT

130 Central Main
Pueblo, CO 81003
719-553-2592

The role of the Police Support Technician varies. As an extension of the Pueblo Police Department, we are required to address some of the following issues: weeds, litter, inoperable vehicles, grafitti, noise ordinances, garage sale permits and licenses, trailers, parades, parking tickets, clean ups, summons and complaints, writs with Sheriff’s Office and special assignments (bomb threats and presidential arrivals, etc.)

LITTER Ordinance #7 -3-2:
It shall be unlawful and a municipal offense for any person to throw or deposit litter, or to accumulate or permit the accumulation of litter, on occupied or vacant private or public property within the City, except that the owner or occupant of private property may maintain receptacles for collection in such a manner that litter shall be contained in the receptacle. Beginning in 2009, the new ordinance also states that trash collection and removal must occur at least every 7 days. Containers and recyclable materials shall not, at any time, be placed on the sidewalk or in the street (or alley), or in such a manner as to impair or obstruct pedestrian, bicycle, or vehicular traffic. All movable containers and recyclable material shall be kept in a storage area except upon collection day when they may be placed for collection at the curb or upon the edge of the alley. Following collections, all containers shall be returned to storage area the same day.

CUTTING AND REMOVAL OF WEEDS Ordinance #7-4-2
It shall be unlawful for any owner of land to permit weeds in excess of ten (10) inches in height to grow, lie or be located upon such land. It shall be unlawful for the owner of the land not to cut, destroy or remove from such land all weeds in excess of ten (10) inches in height. You are responsible to the middle of the alley including total yards and curbs.

PARKING AND STORAGE OF INOPERABLE VEHICLES Ordinance #17-4-28:
No inoperable vehicle, vehicle parts or accessories shall be stored or parked on any residentially zoned property other than in an enclosed accessory building.

Inoperable vehicle means a motor vehicle, trailer or tractor of any kind which meets any one (1) or more of the following conditions:

  1. Without current license plates
  2. Apparently inoperable; or
  3. Extensively damaged, such damage including, but not limited to, broken windows or windshields or both, or missing wheel, tire, motor or transmission.

GRAFFITI Ordinance #11-9-7
Graffiti means any unauthorized inscriptions, word, figure, painting, or other markings that is written, etched, scratched, sprayed, drawn, painted, or engraved on or otherwise affixed on to any surface of public or private property by any graffiti implement.

The existence of graffiti on public or private property is expressively declared to be a public nuisance and, therefore, is subject to the removal and abatement provisions specified in the full ordinance. It is the duty of both the owner and responsible party of the property which the graffiti has been applied to at all times keep the property clear of graffiti.

GRAFFITI Ordinance #11-9-8
It is unlawful for the owner or responsible party of the property upon which the graffiti exists or has been applied in the city to permit such graffiti to remain for a period of more than ten (10) days.
