The role of the
Police Support Technician varies. As an extension of the Pueblo Police
Department, we are required to address some of the following issues:
weeds, litter, inoperable vehicles, grafitti, noise ordinances, garage
sale permits and licenses, trailers, parades, parking tickets, clean ups,
summons and complaints, writs with Sheriff’s Office and special
assignments (bomb threats and presidential arrivals,
etc.)
LITTER Ordinance
#7 -3-2: It shall be unlawful and a municipal offense for any person to throw or
deposit litter, or to accumulate or permit the accumulation of litter, on
occupied or vacant private or public property within the City, except that the
owner or occupant of private property may maintain receptacles for collection in
such a manner that litter shall be contained in the receptacle. Beginning in
2009, the new ordinance also states that trash collection and removal must occur
at least every 7 days. Containers and recyclable materials shall not, at any
time, be placed on the sidewalk or in the street (or alley), or in such a manner
as to impair or obstruct pedestrian, bicycle, or vehicular traffic. All movable
containers and recyclable material shall be kept in a storage area except upon
collection day when they may be placed for collection at the curb or upon the
edge of the alley. Following collections, all containers shall be returned to
storage area the same day.
CUTTING AND REMOVAL OF WEEDS
Ordinance #7-4-2 It shall
be unlawful for any owner of land to permit weeds in excess of ten (10) inches
in height to grow, lie or be located upon such land. It shall be unlawful for
the owner of the land not to cut, destroy or remove from such land all weeds in
excess of ten (10) inches in height. You are responsible to the middle of the
alley including total yards and curbs.
PARKING AND STORAGE OF INOPERABLE
VEHICLES Ordinance #17-4-28: No inoperable vehicle, vehicle parts or accessories shall be stored or
parked on any residentially zoned property other than in an enclosed accessory
building.
Inoperable vehicle means a motor vehicle,
trailer or tractor of any kind which meets any one (1) or more of the following
conditions:
- Without current license
plates
- Apparently inoperable; or
- Extensively damaged, such damage
including, but not limited to, broken windows or windshields or both, or
missing wheel, tire, motor or transmission.
GRAFFITI Ordinance
#11-9-7 Graffiti means any unauthorized inscriptions, word,
figure, painting, or other markings that is written, etched, scratched, sprayed,
drawn, painted, or engraved on or otherwise affixed on to any surface of public
or private property by any graffiti implement.
The existence of graffiti on public or private property is expressively
declared to be a public nuisance and, therefore, is subject to the removal and
abatement provisions specified in the full ordinance. It is the duty of both the
owner and responsible party of the property which the graffiti has been applied
to at all times keep the property clear of graffiti.
GRAFFITI Ordinance
#11-9-8 It is unlawful for the
owner or responsible party of the property upon which the graffiti exists
or has been applied in the city to permit such graffiti to remain for a
period of more than ten (10) days.
