Federal Stimulus Funds ARRA aid City Construction Project
The City of Pueblo has received a grant that will assist in the completion of a streetscape and trail replacement.
The city has been awarded a Transportation Enhancement Grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation. In addition, Pueblo will receive Federal Stimulus Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act or ARRA for the Northern Avenue Streetscape and Trail Replacement Project.
The project will landscape the right-of-way in the median, replace an asphalt trail with a concrete trail on the north and south sides of the street, and update crosswalks at roadway crossing.
The project is located on Northern Avenue between Vinewood Avenue and Hollywood/Lehigh Avenues. The work includes 10 and 8 food concrete trails, handicap crosswalk ramps, turf grass, trees, western landscaping and irrigation.
The total budget for the project is just over $500,000 with $165,000 coming from ARRA funds, $272,800 from CDOT Enhancement money, and $68,203 from a local match.
The construction is expected to last 60 days and will begin on April 19 and will be completed by June 17th. Work will be completed on one side before moving to the other side to minimize sidewalk closure. Expect left lane closures for part of the construction period as the median is improved for streetscape.
